The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas

Set during World War II, the story follows Bruno, a naive nine-year-old German boy who must relocate from his comfortable home in Berlin to a lonely place he calls “Out-With,” because of his father’s new military promotion. Isolated and bored, Bruno explores the boundaries of his new home and discovers a massive wire fence separating him from hundreds of people wearing what look like striped pajamas.
There, he meets Shmuel, a boy his exact same age living on the other side of the fence. Despite the literal barrier and the terrifying reality surrounding them—which Bruno doesn’t fully understand—the two forge an innocent, secret friendship that ultimately leads to devastating consequences.
