Sun and the Wind

This book is a charming and simplified retelling of the classic Aesop’s fable. The story follows the Sun and the Wind as they get into an argument over who is the most powerful. To settle the dispute, they test their strength against a passing traveler, competing to see who can force him to take off his coat. The Wind tries first, blowing with all its might, but the fierce gusts only make the traveler wrap his coat tighter around himself. When it is the Sun’s turn, it simply shines down with steady warmth, causing the traveler to naturally and easily remove his cloak. It is an engaging beginner-level reader that uses simple vocabulary to teach the classic lesson that gentleness and warmth can achieve what brute force cannot.
