What the Dead Want

This gripping Manchester-based crime novel follows Detective Inspector Thomas Ridpath as he takes on a sensitive cold case. Four years prior, a 14-year-old boy named Andrew Golding vanished without a trace after a family argument. When recent media reports expose critical mistakes made during the initial police response, Ridpath is brought in to uncover the truth. As he peels back the layers of the botched investigation, he discovers that the boy’s disappearance is connected to a much larger, darker, and more vicious threat than anyone realized. A ruthless killer from the past emerges, putting not only Ridpath’s professional career at stake but also the safety of those closest to him.
