The Dungeon House (The Lake District Cold Case Mysteries series)

Set against the remote, windswept coastline of Cumbria, the narrative splits between two timelines. Twenty years in the past, a wealthy man named Malcolm Whiteley mentally unravels after discovering his wife’s infidelity, creating a tense and volatile environment for his family inside their grand estate, the Dungeon House. In the present day, a shocking double murder takes place at that very same property. The investigation falls to DCI Hannah Scarlett and historian Daniel Kind, who must unearth the dark, long-buried secrets of the Whiteley family’s history to figure out how a past psychological tragedy connects to the modern-day violence.
