How the Crab Got His Claws

This book is a simplified and lively reimagining of a classic tale by Rudyard Kipling. The story follows a giant, mischievous crab who loves to misbehave and cause trouble for everyone else, such as making the oceans overflow every time he decides to play. To put an end to the chaos, a wise man steps in and shrinks the disruptive creature down to a small size. Later on, a young girl gifts the tiny crab a pair of scissors so he can break open nuts and shells to eat. This playful legend creatively explains how the modern-day crab ended up with its signature pincers. Because it is designed for kids who are just starting to read independently, it features very basic vocabulary, clear sentences, bright illustrations, and interactive puzzles at the end to help test reading comprehension.
