Gather the Fortunes

Set in an atmospheric, magic-infused version of New Orleans, the story follows Renaissance Raines, a “psychopomp” whose duty is to guide the souls of the deceased safely into the Underworld. She prefers to fly under the radar, avoiding the attention of both gods and mortals. However, her quiet routine is shattered when a young, dead boy named Ramses somehow manages to escape his predetermined fate and vanishes. Forced to track him down, Renaissance is pulled into a dangerous web of ancient gods, street magicians, and divine conspiracies that threatens the delicate balance between the living world and the afterlife.
