Summer in Provence

The story follows a married couple, Fern and Aiden, whose lives take an unexpected turn after winning the lottery. Instead of bringing them closer, the windfall exposes their completely different dreams: Fern wants to settle down, pay off their mortgage, and start a family, while Aiden wants to travel the world. Unable to compromise, they agree to a “marriage gap year” to pursue their separate goals. While Aiden heads out to the wilds of Australia, Fern—who dislikes backpacking—seeks peace at an art retreat in the stunning French countryside of Provence. There, she helps out at a local château in exchange for painting lessons from a brilliant but troubled artist named Nico. The narrative beautifully explores how this extended time apart forces both Fern and Aiden to rediscover who they are, leaving the ultimate fate of their marriage hanging in the balance.
