Welcome (Separate components and all levels)

The Welcome Series by Express Publishing is a highly interactive English language course designed by Elizabeth Gray and Virginia Evans specifically for primary school children (ages 6 to 10). The course follows a moderate syllabus progression that seamlessly guides young learners from absolute beginners to the elementary level (CEFR Pre-A1 to A2) while keeping them engaged through the magical adventures of a genie named Masid.

Course Levels & Target Age
The series is structurally divided to accommodate different entry ages in the primary school cycle:
– Welcome Starter A: Designed for early-primary pupils (ages 6–7) in their first year of English, focusing primarily on listening and speaking with introductory alphabet exposure.
Welcome Starter B: Designed for the second year of early primary, expanding the curriculum to cover all four core language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
Welcome 1: Tailored for primary level beginners (CEFR Pre-A1 / A1), providing a foundational structure.
Welcome 2: Geared towards high-beginner primary students (CEFR A1).
Welcome 3: Built for elementary-level primary students (CEFR A2), rounding out the foundational syllabus.

Express Publishing also offers Welcome Plus, which breaks these core levels down into a 6-level framework to easily fit specific school tracking calendars.

Core Course Components
Each level requires 80 to 100 hours of classroom instruction and features an expansive ecosystem of materials for both students and teachers:

For Students
– Pupil’s Book: Full-color text containing lesson modules structured around real-world contexts, lively dialogues, language twisters, songs, and games.
– Workbook (with stickers): Provides stimulating vocabulary and grammar reinforcement alongside interactive tasks and board games.
– My Alphabet Book: A dedicated supplement for early levels to introduce and drill English letter formation and sounds.
– Interactive CD-ROM / DigiBooks: Digital software containing interactive tasks and gamified revision to keep students motivated outside the classroom.

For Teachers & Classrooms
– Teacher’s Book: An interleaved guide featuring detailed lesson plans, answer keys, transcriptions, and extra photocopiable assessment tests.
– Fully Dramatised Audio CDs & Animated DVDs: Professional audio recordings and animated story videos to build correct pronunciation and high-level auditory skills.
– Vocabulary Flashcards & Posters: Large, colorful print media used by teachers to present and drill key vocabulary words dynamically in the classroom.
– Masid Puppet: A physical plush of Masid the Genie to introduce a Total Physical Response (TPR) approach and drive interactive classroom activities.
