The Discreet Hero

Set in Peru, this novel follows two different men whose lives eventually collide due to unexpected family crises. The first is Felícito Yanaqué, a hardworking, self-made trucking business owner in Piura who receives an anonymous extortion letter. Guided by his late mother’s advice never to let anyone trample on him, he fiercely refuses to pay the protection money, thrusting himself into the public eye as an accidental hero.
